Bristol’s very own poetry revue invites the region’s wordsmiths to perform in our quirky cocktail bar.

This month, we feature the fine Erbacce poets including Matt Duggan, Sarer Scotthorne, Sam Smith, Paul Hawkins and Monika Kostyra. Music from the brilliant Simon Greening on saxophone. Hosted by Charles Thompson.

Sarer Scotthorne is a symbolist poet, who performs her poetry with and without swords. She teaches creative writing workshops and co-runs Hesterglock Press. Her two pamphlets are *The Blood House* (Hesterglock Press) and *Semblance* (Erbacce Press).

Paul Hawkins is a Bristol-based poet and text artist. He’s the author of Claremont Road, Contumacy (both Erbacce Press) & Place Waste Dissent (Influx Press). He collaborates with Portugese text artist/poet Bruno Neiva and they co-authored Servant Drone (KF&S Press) and The Secret of Good Posture (Team Trident Press). He co-runs Hesterglock Press with poet Sarer Scotthorne and co-curates Anathema, a series of monthly experimental writing events in Bristol.

Matt Duggan is a Bristol born poet who lives somewhere in Bristol, he won the prestigious erbacce prize for Poetry in 2015 with his first full collection Dystopia 38.10 from over 5,000 entries worldwide, his poems have been included in many journals and magazines such as The Journal, Carillon Prole, Trafika Europe, Black Light Engine Room, Ink Sweat and Tears, Lakeview International Literary Journal, Apogee Magazine, Harbinger Asylum,…
In 2016 he won the Into the Void Poetry Prize with his poem Elegy for Magdalena, and became one of six core members at erbacce press and has been invited by the editors of Into the Void to read his work in Boston in the U.S this May, he also runs his own Poetry events in Bristol called Poetry in the Pond and is the co-editor of The Angry Manifesto Magazine. Saxophonist Simon Greening is a prominent figure in the Bristol jazz scene, playing in several bands – including founding jazz quartets Green in Blue and Avellana – arranging workshops and running the East Bristol Jazz Club jam. Singer, composer and pianist Jack Challoner leads the Gerald Fitzella Quartet, and sits in on several other bands. They share many musical influences, including Dollar Brand, Miles Davis, Bill Evans and have a particular passion for exploring and interpreting the jazz song repertoire.
