Have you always been Bristol-based, or did life bring you here?

I moved here about six years ago now! I can’t tell you how much I loved Bristol every time I visited, I knew I had to live here. The vibe and culture in Bristol is unmatched. I live near the St Pauls area and there’s a real sense of kinship and community here.

What first sparked your journey into floristry – how did it all begin?

I’ve always loved having flowers in the house whether it was from a flower shop or from the local supermarket but what I really loved was arranging. Having a well arranged and curated bunch of flowers can elevate a room. Like a piece of art!

Not long after lockdown I started volunteering at a flower shop in Clifton (Forest and the Flowers) to learn the ropes of modern floristry. I was also freelancing with different florists across Bristol and London. I learnt what I liked and didn’t like style wise, and developed my own signature style – the rest is history!

You’ve collaborated with some incredible brands, how did those opportunities come about?

Honestly the power of social media! Most of the partnerships and brand work I’ve gotten have been through social media, either Instagram or LinkedIn. Really utilizing my Instagram and making it essentially like a portfolio has connected me to some really incredible clients. Don’t be afraid to show up and post… you never know who’s watching!

Do you have favourite flowers or seasonal blooms you love to work with?

My favourite flower to work with is an anthurium, anyone that knows me or my work knows I LOVE to add a cheeky anthurium in an arrangement. It’s such a fun stem to work with. For seasonal flowers it’s got to be a peony… I know its cliché, but they’re honestly so stunning. I love when peony season comes around.

What’s your go-to colour palette right now?

Right now I’m working with a lot moodier and darker colours. Browns, burgundies and purples. I like the way darker stems look visually especially when doing a more sculptural arrangement.

What’s one floral styling tip everyone should know?

Express yourself! Try new things and new techniques. The great thing about modern floristry is that your flowers don’t have to be perfectly packaged uniform bouquets. Keep it playful and unique. OH and invest in a good sharp pair of snips!
