Head Chef
Lead the kitchen at one of Bristol’s most distinctive hospitality venues.
Salary Package: 45k + 7k OTE performance bonus
Contract: 45 hours per week
We’re looking for an inspiring Head Chef to lead our talented kitchen team and help shape the future of our food offering. This is an exciting opportunity for an established Head Chef or an ambitious Senior Sous Chef ready to take the next step into their first Head Chef role.
About the role
You’ll lead a team of 8-10 chefs, delivering food across every part of the business – from breakfast for our hotel guests, through lunch and evening restaurant service, to a varied programme of private events.
Events are a major part of what we do. One week you might be delivering an intimate private dinner, the next a wedding, wrap party or corporate summer BBQ. Alongside this, we’re focused on growing our day-to-day restaurant business and creating a dining destination that’s every bit as exciting as our events.
Our menus are currently rooted in seasonal, modern European cuisine, but we’re open-minded. We’re looking for someone with ideas, ambition and the confidence to evolve our food offering while ensuring it works brilliantly for both à la carte dining and events. What you’ll be doing
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of 8-10 chefs.
- Delivering consistently high-quality food across breakfast, lunch, dinner and events.
- Creating and developing menus that are both exciting and commercially successful.
- Working closely with the senior management team to grow the restaurant business.
- Managing food GP, labour costs and kitchen budgets.
- Maintaining exceptional food safety and operational standards.
- Recruiting, coaching and developing your team.
About you
You’ll be passionate about food, calm under pressure and enjoy leading from the front.
Whether you’re already a successful Head Chef or a Senior Sous Chef ready for your first leadership role, you’ll have:
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience delivering both à la carte service and events.
- Commercial awareness alongside culinary creativity.
- High standards and excellent organisational skills.
- A collaborative approach and a good sense of humour.
- A genuine desire to build something rather than simply maintain it.
